Video: What are cataracts?

In this video I explain what cataracts are and what happens to the lens when you have cataracts.

Well, a cataract is a mistiness of the lens. It starts off clear when we are young and when we get older, which is one of the most common causes of cataract, it starts to become more misty.

There is slight yellowing at first – in the centre usually – and then becomes gradually more yellow and darkened and can eventually get to becoming a white cataract. So there are different degrees of cataract and that’s what happens as the natural lens inside our eye ages.

So if there’s any further questions on the formation of cataract, then you can call me and make an appointment and we’ll be happy to see you when you arrange it.
