Video: How fast does Age-Related Macular Degeneration get worse?
In this video I explain how fast Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) can get worse and what you have to do to avoid vision loss.
Generally that is not the case, we do have a small number of patients who develop very mild wet Age-Related Macular Degeneration who can spontaneously get better, but that is not the norm unfortunately.
The large majority of my patients who develop wet Age-Related Macular Degeneration and don’t receive treatment – for whatever reason – maybe they didn’t see their doctor quickly enough or maybe they don’t even know themselves. They do tend to lose the central part of their vision.
And unfortunately that’s the vision which we use focus on faces, read books, watch television, and do our daily tasks. And that’s the bit that is affected.
That’s the sad thing: If you don’t get treated quickly you can suffer in the long term without any reversible or treatable Age-Related Macular Degeneration scaring.
